APFMA to move SC against wheat transportation ban

The central executive committee of the All Pakistan Flour Mills Association (APFMA) has said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government should move the Supreme Court for ensuring smooth flow of wheat to flour mills if the government of Punjab took a decision to ban inter-provincial wheat transportation.

Addressing the meeting at Nathiagalli, All Pakistan Flour Mills Association Chairman Mian Mehmood-ul-Hassan stressed for improving quality of flour to explore new vistas for its export. He also demanded to stop construction of housing societies on agriculture land for increasing the production of wheat.

Speaking on the occasion, KP Flour Mills Association President Anees Ashraf also demanded withdrawal of increase in electricity tariff saying it would increase the price of flour bag to Rs 20 which would be injustice with the people of the province.

He said the government should store wheat according to its requirements and sell the remaining quantity to flour mills through open market. He said it would enable millers to purchase wheat from the open market.

The meeting also demanded to fix a uniform rate of wheat in the whole country.
