WASHINGTON-

An aid of $96 million to Pakistan for the year 2015 has been approved by a  key panel of US Congress.

The aid is $65.8 million less than the proposed amount of $1.03 billion by US President Barack Obama in the annual budget.

In May, the US Congress adopted a bill that demanded Pakistan for the release of Dr. Shakil Afridi, who helped the CIA track down former al- Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in 2012.

The State Department’s 2015 budget of $48.285 billion was also approved by the committee.
