In a bid to prevent any reaction to the military operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’ going on in North Waziristan, troops were deployed in Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan districts of Southern Punjab, reported a private news channel.
The report quoted a statement by Inter Services Public Relation (ISPR) that said that in the backdrop of terror incidents in reaction of Zarb-e-Azb feared in southern Punjab, security has been put on high alert.
Security troops, including personnel from Pakistan Army, Quick Reaction Force and Rapid Action Force have been deployed at all sensitive locations in the cities.
The report added that a joint operation and coordination centre headed by Major General Hasnat Amir has been set up, where the police, civil administration and intelligence agencies would work with the army to monitor the situation in Multan, DGK and Sahiwal.
