‘Minhaj incident shows it’s time for government to pack up’

*Pervaiz Elahi urges federal, Punjab govts to step down

Pakistan Muslim League-Q leader and former Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi on Saturday demanded resignation from both federal and provincial governments over June 17 deadly police raid at the Minhajul Quran Secretariat in Model Town.

Addressing a press conference, Pervaiz Elahi alleged that 30 workers of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) were still missing and 12 people were buried in a mass grave.

He urged Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to accept responsibility of Lahore killings and step down.

“Shahbaz Sharif boasts about good governance. He is now shifting his responsibility on others,” he remarked.

“Both Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif are guilty of shedding blood of unarmed protesters at Model Town. They will have to go,” he stressed.

The former chief minister alleged that IG Punjab Mushtaq Sukhera was brought under a deal on the eve of police assault.

Commenting on Rana Sanaullah’s sacking as law minister, Pervaiz Elahi said that this was all drama, adding that those who gave orders for firing should step down to make way for an independent inquiry.
