Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rashid has said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) led government has set an example by seeking the resignation of Punjab law minister.

Talking to a private news channel, Rashid expressed sorrow over the Model Town incident and said that a judicial commission would complete its report about the Lahore incident.

He said that many unwanted incidents had happened during the previous governments’ tenure but no one dared to ask for resignation from their ministers.

General (r) Pervez Musharraf did many wrong things during his 12-year-long tenure but nobody asked for his resignation. Similarly, nobody demanded resignation of those responsible for the Dera Ismail Khan jailbreak, he said.

The minister said that if Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shafqat Mehmood had any reservations, he could knock the court’s door and argue his case.

Rashid said Tahirul Qadri had used provocative language in his speeches, press conferences and tweets but the PTI did not mention it.

He said that if anybody had any objection over the setting up of a judicial commission, he could approach the Supreme Court.

“We should give our children the lesson of good governance, democracy and development,” he said.

Rashid said that the Pakistan Army had launched Operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan Agency to eliminate the menace of terrorism, with full support of the parliament and public.
