Shahbaz to ensure clean water for all

ENTA chief calls on CM to discuss Saaf Pani Project

Government has prepared a mega Saaf Pani Project for providing potable water to the masses and for this a sum of Rs 5 billion has been fixed in the budget, said Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif while talking to ENTA President Uzi Sezer on Thursday.

Project of potable water and treatment of polluted industrial water were discussed in the meeting.

The chief minister said provision of clean drinking water was essential to protect people from diseases and therefore, the government had set a target to supply clean water to people throughout the province during next four years.

He said the government was implementing a comprehensive programme of provision of clean water to people and in its first phase, water filtration plants were being set up in various parts of the province while supply of potable water will be ensured to every citizen during next four years.

Shahbaz said installation of modern plants for the treatment of toxic industrial water was essential and cooperation of a Turkish international company in this regard and provision of drinking water to people would be welcomed.

He said provision of clean water to the citizens is the responsibility of the state and a target has been fixed to supply potable water to every citizen of the province during next four years.

He said that the  Saaf Pani Project is of utmost importance as it is directly related with human health.

He said the Turkish company can also cooperate in treatment of industrial effluents.
