An informal consultative meeting attended by the representatives of seven political and religious parties at the International Secretariat of Minhajul Quran on Friday demanded the government set up a judicial commission comprising three senior judges of the Supreme Court to probe into the Model Town tragedy.

This was also the main point of declaration adopted by the leaders of several political parties attending the meeting, presided over by Dr Tahirul Qadri’s son Hasan Mohiuddin, to express solidarity with the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT).

The declaration read out by Hasan further demanded that the commission should engage only credible officials from the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence (MI) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) to investigate the killings of the PAT workers.

The meeting also called for resignation of all the government functionaries nominated in the FIR of Minhajul Quran. It also demanded immediate suspension of civil and police officials involved in the bloody incident.

Dr Tahirul Qadri also addressed the meeting through a video-link.

The meeting was attended by the representatives of the Pakistan People’s Party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid, Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Sunni Ittehad Council, Shia Ulema Council and Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslemeen.
