STAFF REPORT
The Lahore Police Thursday withdrew the name of Hussain Mohiuddin, son of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri, from the case earlier registered against him and PAT supporters.
Confirming the report, PAT official Altaf Hussain said, “They should not have included his name in the first place. He was not in the city when the incident started. He came late and we did not allow him to come to this side. Yet they filed a case against him despite being aggrieved. Now they have omitted his name on their own.”
The other day, the provincial government had filed cases against hundreds of PAT and Minhaju Quran workers including Hussain in the wake of a bloody showdown between the police and Qadri’s supporters.
The inclusion of Hussain in the FIR registered later surprised every other observer watching the government handling of the fall-out of the police clashes at International Secretariat of Minhajul Quran.
According to the some experts, the police have neither adopted due course in filing cases nor in the removal of Hussain’s name. Meanwhile, PAT has almost finalised the contents of its FIR and is expected to file it in a day or two.
