Shahbaz pleads Minhaj admin to join probe

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif Thursday appealed to the administration of Minhajul Quran “in the name of justice and humanity”, to withdraw its boycott of the judicial commission probing the Minhaj incident in which more than 12 lives were lost owing to police’s brutal action.

Talking to a delegation of assembly members, the Punjab chief minister pleaded that the judicial process was the only source of ensuring justice while its boycott would be “grave injustice” to victims and their families.

Shahbaz said that he was determined to provide justice to the victims at any cost and cooperation with the judicial commission was necessary for ensuring punishment to those who played with human lives.

The Punjab CM said that despite Idara-e-Minhajul Quran’s refusal to meet the delegation of ministers which intended to express condolences, the Punjab government will uphold all demands of justice.

The chief minister said that the judicial commission set up to hold enquiry into the incident had started its work and the facts would soon be brought before the nation. He said that the report of the judicial commission will be implemented in letter and spirit and the guilty persons will not escape punishment.

Shahbaz said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had never indulged in politics of violence as it believed in public service. He said that he could not tolerate that people be subjected to cruelty merely for the purpose of removing barricades.
