The Supreme Court (SC) has sought a detailed report from Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) director general till July 2 over the arrest and recovery of commission agent Ahmad Faiz from Saudi Arabia for his alleged involvement in Haj corruption case.
A three-member SC bench led by Justice Jawwad S Khawaja took up the case for hearing Wednesday.
The FIA DG and other officials appeared in the court where the DG presented certain important documents in sealed cover in the court saying, “The accused is in some other state. We cannot take direct action like that of Osama. Some progress has been achieved and more headway will also be made.”
“We have made contact with senior officials of Saudi Arabia. We expect that substantial positive progress is likely to be achieved in this regard. There are certain things which cannot be told in the open court,” the FIA DG said requesting the court for more time on the issue.
Justice Khawaja remarked, “Four years have elapsed and the culprit is not being arrested. Progress report is not worth mentioning. We know it that several nationals of Saudi Arabia have been deported while several have been brought back as well. Material related to investigation, documentary proof and parliamentary committee reports are available with regard to investigation of Ahmad Faiz wherein it has been said that proceedings be initiated against Ahmad Faiz.”
The court however granted more time to the DG and adjourned the case till July 2.
