The National Assembly Wednesday passed 23 demands for grants worth over Rs 103.32 billion pertaining to Cabinet Division and its attached departments.

The cut motions moved by the opposition were rejected by the House.

Winding up debate on cut motions, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed pointed out that the budget of Prime Minister’s House was over Rs 747 million when the PML-N assumed power last year.

Speaking on a point raised by Naveed Qamar, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar assured the House that the treasury and opposition members will be given equal development funds. He, however, said currently under a court order, there is ban on the release of funds to the members for any development scheme.

The opposition members said allocations should be made for completion of pending gas and electricity schemes to prevent any loss to the national exchequer.
