Gullu Butt, a police tout who was caught on TV news cameras while damaging vehicles outside the secretariat of Minhaj-ul-Quran International (MQI) in Model Town has been arrested for vandalism.
According to reports, Butt was arrested late on Tuesday night following the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
On Tuesday, TV news footage showed Butt destroying parked vehicles as the policemen watched him outside the MQI secretariat during the clash between the police and supporters of MUQ and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief Tahir-ul-Qadri. The clash led to a loss of eight lives, including two women and one policeman.
The clash erupted in the wee hours of Tuesday when the police attempted to remove barriers around the MQI secretariat.
