- IHC seeks reply from foreign affairs secretary over UAE’s missing person’s case
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday issued notice to foreign affairs secretary and sought reply within 10 days on a plea seeking direction to Consulate of Pakistan in Dubai to officially take up the matter of the petitioner’s missing son Omar Mateen with the Government of Dubai, UAE.
A single member bench of IHC comprising Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi resumed hearing of a plea filed by a retired DC Income Tax Qurban Raja through his lawyer Barrister Afzal Hussain.
During the course of hearing, Barrister Afzal counsel for Qurban Raja apprised the bench that on March 02, 2014, the Petitioner’s son an accountant had sent to the bank in the company’s hired car along-with driver Aamir Khan as a routine matter for encashment of two cheques of AED 1.5 Million without a security guard.
After encashment, the petitioner’s son did not reach office and went missing and still his whereabouts are not known to anyone.
The driver firstly stated that after dropping the petitioner’s son in front of the bank, his car met with an unfortunate accident, caught fire and he left the car and went to hospital for burns treatment.
The driver’s most recent statement conveyed to the Petitioner was that his son came out of the bank and gave him AED 100,000 and went away, he added.
The petitioner also maintained that his son’s passport was handed over to the Dubai Police by his daughter-in-law who was residing in Dubai with his son and since March, twice the petitioner has been to Dubai and have also written letter to the Foreign Affairs secretary seeking support for the recovery of his son.
