SC moved against Musharraf, 12 former judges

The Supreme Court (SC) has been moved for initiation of proceedings against former president Pervez Musharraf and 12 former judges of apex court under article 6 of the constitution on October 12, 1999, steps.

A petition has been filed in the SC, Karachi registry, making law secretary, interior secretary and FIA DG respondents. The petitioner has taken the plea the then army chief Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf had toppled elected government on October, 12, 1999, and the constitution was held in abeyance on October 12 as well.

The then 12 judges of the SC had declared this step correct and allowed the government to introduce amendments in the constitution of its own choice. Therefore, former president Pervez Musharraf and 12 former judges of SC be proceeded against under article 6 of the constitution, the petitioner prayed.
