PM arrives in Tajikistan for two-day visit

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in Tajikistan on Tuesday for a two-day official visit.

He was received at the airport by Tajikistan Deputy Prime Minister Azeem Ibrihim. The visit is part of regular high-level exchanges between the two countries.

During his stay in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, the PM will hold meetings with Tajikistan President Emomalii Rahmon and Prime Minister Qohir Rasulzoda to discuss all aspects of bilateral relations, including political, trade, economic, energy, infrastructure, defense and security, and people-to-people contacts.

CASA-1000, a project for regional energy cooperation between Tajikistan, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan, would be another key area of focus.

In the regional context, Sharif is expected to exchange views with the Tajik leadership on the developments in Afghanistan.

A number of agreements and MoUs are expected to be inked during the visit.

Relations between Pakistan and Tajikistan are marked by cordiality and close cooperation in diverse fields. The two countries share similar views on major regional and international issues and collaborate closely on multilateral forums, including United Nations, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Economic Cooperation Organisation, and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
