Minister for Information Senator Pervaiz Rashid has said that Pakistan’s armed forces are fighting a war to protect the integrity and security of the state on the directions of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the entire nation should fully support them to ensure the defeat of the enemy.
Rashid was chairing a high level meeting in Islamabad on Monday. The meeting was attended by Secretary IB&NH Dr Nazir Saeed, DG ISPR Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa and other senior officials of the IB&NH Ministry.
“Our brave soldiers are sacrificing their lives today to secure our tomorrow,” said Rashid.
The minister expressed his firm resolve to fight terrorists and said that operations would continue till terrorists are eliminated.
Speaking on the process of peace talks with militants, Rashid said that as a democratic government, we opted for the strategy of dialogue but lack of sincerity and hypocrisy on part of other militants disrupted the whole process.
Rashid said that terrorist continued their attacks despite the ongoing peace process and also denied responsibility for these attacks.
The minister urged the media to demonstrate a streak of nationalism to counter the extremist narrative.
He appealed to the media to keep the state’s national interest as supreme and show responsibility while covering the operation in North Waziristan.
Rashid emphasised effective liaison between ISPR and the IB&NH Ministry to ensure the dissemination of authentic information and to dispel any misleading perception.
The senator also directed the principal information officer to establish a crisis communication cell and 24-hour helpline in PID to extend support to the internally displaced people.
