- Dr Qadri says he is coming to Pakistan to ‘blast off a regime-changing revolution’
- Religious scholars, journalists condemn Dr Qadri’s ‘un-Islamic activities’
Inviting all the political units to join hands with him, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT)’s firebrand leader Dr Tahirul Qadri said that he was coming to Pakistan to “blast off a regime-changing revolution”, media reported on Sunday.
“Even the mere anticipation of that uprising has plunged the government into the depths of a nerve-wracking panic,” Dr Qadri told a private channel during an interview.
The controversial cleric said that he was trying to rally all the political forces into a grand alliance against the corrupt rulers of Pakistan.
“Awami Muslim League (AML)’s Sheikh Rashid has always been a supporter of our revolution. I will also hold talks with opposition leaders including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan in Pakistan,” the PAT leader said.
To a question concerning Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Abid Sher Ali’s money-laundering allegations, Dr Qadri said that addressing Abid Sher was far below him.
“I just do not have the heart to counter personal attacks by someone who holds no value to me,” Dr Qadri said. He said that there was no stain of corruption on his soul.
“The government will never be able to find anything that it can hold against me no matter what it does,” a surefooted Dr Qadri declared.
QADRI GOES ‘UN-ISLAMIC’:
On the other hand, religious scholars and journalists strongly condemned Dr Qadri’s controversial agenda and his objectionable videos, terming them “un-Islamic”.
Expressing shock and dismay over showing of a video by Dr Qadri on his dream about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), clerics said that narrating or attributing any substance or material to the Prophet (PBUH) was “repugnant” to Islam.
In a state television programme “Chautha Satoon”, a renowned religious scholar Mufti Abdul Qavi said that Qadri has not only committed a sin but also kept silent over un-Islamic actions of the people who were prostrating before him.
According to Islam, a Muslim can only prostrate before the Almighty Allah, he said, adding that Dr Qadri’s self praising and un-Islamic agenda was tantamount to an insult of the sacred title of Sheikhul Islam, which he uses for himself.
Fayaz Dilana a senior journalist said that Dr Qadri has been minting money from Pakistanis and spending it on construction of his institutions abroad.
