Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Monday that Pakistan Navy is fully prepared and geared up to safeguard the country’s maritime interests, including defence of sea frontiers.
During his visit to the Naval Headquarters Islamabad, the PM said the government will provide full support for development plans of Pakistan Navy to ensure that it remains a balanced and effective force capable of meeting future challenges.
Expressing confidence over the professional capabilities of the Pakistan Navy, Sharif said that the government fully realises the importance of the maritime sector, including its great economic potential due to international trade carried out through the sea.
Earlier, a detailed operational briefing was given by deputy chief of naval staff (operations) on the operational preparedness of the navy.
Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and senior officers of Pakistan Navy attended the briefing.
Upon arrival at the Naval HQs, the PM was received by Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Asif Sandila and was presented the guard of honour by a contingent of the Pakistan Navy.
