Two armymen among five killed in KP attacks

At least five people, including two security personnel, were killed and 11 others injured in separate incidents on Saturday across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and adjoining tribal areas.

The injured include a security force personnel and an officer of a polio vaccination team.

Reports from Mohmand Agency said that unidentified militants targeted a vehicle with an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Chamarkand area, killing one and injuring five others.

Occupants of the vehicle included Levies personnel and a local polio vaccination team’s supervisor.

Later, the militants attacked the security forces personnel with an IED when they were engaged in a search operation in the area but no loss of life was reported.

In a separate incident, a security personnel was killed and three others were injured in an IED attack on a convoy on Karakoram Highway near Mansehra.

The injured were admitted to Mansehra hospital where their condition was stated to be out of danger.

Reports from Hangu said that a clash between armed militants in the compound of Commander Mullah Nabi Mohammadi at Speen Thall killed two militants while three others were injured.

Meanwhile, in Khawajawos village near Shabqadar town in Charsada district, an unidentified militant was killed when an explosive he was planting on the road, went off accidentally.
