State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali faced strong criticism from Power Looms Association office bearers during an open kutchery at Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) headquarters on Saturday.
Mirza Shafiq Ahmad and other office bearers of various trade organisations expressed strong resentment over excessive load-shedding during the tenure of incumbent Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government.
They said that during the tenure of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), when load-shedding exceeded four hours a day, they came out on the roads on Ali’s call.
The traders said they voted for Ali because he had assured them that that they would get relief from load-shedding, but alleged that the duration of power outages had now increased to around seven to eight hours a day.
Eyewitnesses said that harsh words were exchanged between the state minister and the representatives.
The traders also protested over the alleged misbehaviour of security officials with their representatives in FESCO, two days back.
The state minister responded that notice would be taken about the incident and assured the trade representatives that the duration of power outages would be brought down to four hours a day.
