At least five people were killed and several others injured in fresh spree of violence in different localities of the city on Saturday.
Police said unknown armed men opened fire at two persons near Mazar-e-Quaid killing one on the spot while the other was injured. The deceased and the injured seemed to be the students of some seminary. Two men were shot dead in Gulistan-e-Johar Block 15. The deceased were identified as Hyder Abbas and Qaisar Abbas. A bullet-riddled and tortured body of a man was recovered from Shah Faisal Colony.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Malir district’s president injured when attackers opened fire at him, however, the PML-N official had a narrow escape.
Meanwhile, more than 10 persons were reported injured in different areas of the metropolis who were shifted to various hospitals of concerned areas. The law enforcement agencies personnel arrested several criminals during raids and search operations across the city besides recovering arms and drugs from their possession.
