MQM Chief Altaf Hussain has said that the nation will have to take a united stand against terrorism and it is not possible for a single party to combat the menace.

He expressed these views while talking to Pakistan Ulema Council Head, Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi, at the International Secretariat, said a statement issued by the MQM on Friday. Pakistan Ulema Council Secretary General Shahibzada Mahmood Qasmi was also present.

Altaf said the attack on Karachi Airport and defence installations was a cause of concern for the whole nation. The situation called for eliminating terrorists, he added. Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi said Altaf was not a leader of a community but a leader of the nation. He struggled for harmony among people belonging to different schools of thought, he added. Altaf said he was happy that his workers and supporters remained peaceful. Altaf Hussain praised Hafiz Ashrafi and Pakistan Ulema Council’s efforts for promoting inter-faith harmony.
