Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed Wednesday stated Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Tahirul Qadri to be ‘strategic partners’.
Talking to the journalists after visiting an educational expo, the information minister said that the Taliban were attacking defence institutions, Khan was targeting democratic institutions while Qadri was attacking the Constitution.
Rasheed said that talks will be held with those who were willing to talk to the government and people holding guns will be responded in the same manner.
The minister said it was government’s responsibility to ensure security of public property, airports, defence and educational institutions. The government will use full force to quell militancy while ground and air operations would be conducted to avert the threats, he added.
Lashing out at the PTI leadership, Rasheed said there was strategic partnership between Khan and Taliban. The government was ready to face Taliban, Khan and Qadri, he added.
The information minister said that the PAT chief was coming to Pakistan to target the Constitution. He said that the state will respond with full force to the terrorists to ensure protection of the people, security institutions and national installations. He said the government will take all possible measures to curb terrorism and will strike them where ever they will attack.
Rasheed criticized the PTI chief for his alleged links with Talban and said that first they were ideological partners but now they had become strategic partners and were out to harm national interests.
Answering a question, the minister said the government was focused on promotion of quality education and has launched a number of schemes in this regard. He said both the federal and provincial governments were working on various programmes to promote education.
