Money-laundering case a pack of lies: Bhai

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Wednesday said that the money-laundering charges brought against him were nothing but a pack of lies.

“Listen to me carefully, I have never bowed down before anyone but God and that’s exactly what I am going to do in the given circumstances,” he said addressing his workers in 38 cities of Pakistan through telephone.

His Wednesday’s live broadcast from London commemorates the party’s 36th foundation day. The MQM was founded in 1984. At the time of inception, the MQM represented only the Muhajir community but after several years, the Muhajir Qaumi Movement changed its name to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement.

The first political organisation of Urdu-speaking people, called the All Pakistan Muhajir Student Organisation (APMSO), was founded on 11 June 1978 by Altaf Hussain in KarachiUniversity.

On March 18, 1984, the APMSO evolved into a proper political organization – the Muhajir Qaumi Movement.

Bucking up his workers, Hussain asked them to repose full trust in him as, according to him, the cases he was facing in London were merely frame-ups, which were bound to go nowhere.

“Trust me the cases are destitute of foundation. These conspiracies will die their own death. So take heart and keep your morale sky-high”, he told the workers.
