Attackers planned to destroy all air crafts at Karachi Airport: report reveals

The initial report of Sunday’s attack on Jinnah International Airport, Karachi was presented to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, a private news channel reported on Monday.

The report revealed that attackers aimed to destroy all airplanes and paralyse the entire air traffic operations but their plan was foiled when the Airport Security Force (ASF) blocked their march towards Jinnah Terminal.

Meanwhile DG ISPR Major General Asim Bajwa, in a tweet, announced that final clearance of the international airport had been completed and the airport was over to Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) /Airport Security Force (ASF) and would likely open at 2:00 PM.

PM advisor Shujaat Azeem confirmed that flights operations would resume at the Karachi airport from 4:00 PM.

At least 28 people were killed, including 10 militants in a 6-hour military operation when heavily-armed militants launched an attack on Jinnah International Airport.

Banned militant outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
