4 ASF men killed in Karachi airport attack

At least four Airport Security Force (ASF) personnel were killed late on Sunday following a terrorist attack near Old Terminal of Quaid-e-Azam International Airport, Karachi.

According to initial reports, armed terrorists hurled grenades and opened fire as they entered the runway from fokker gate which led to an exchange between the gunmen and ASF personnel, killing at least four ASF personnel. The attackers were reported to carry fake ASF ID cards.

Later, at least one terrorist was also killed.

Smoke was seen billowing towards the sky from the tarmac of Jinnah Terminal.

Back-up contingents and Pakistan Army were called-in to handle the situation.

Police and rangers have cordoned off the area and flight schedules have also been put on hold.

An emergency has been declared in JinnahHospital.

Firing and blasts continued at the airport until the filing of this report.
