Teenager commits suicide protesting police inaction against alleged rapist

SARGODHA-

A 16-year-old girl committed suicide on Saturday for police’s refusal to act against her alleged rapist in Sialkot, a private news channel reported.

According to the report, the girl was allegedly subjected to rape for four months by the accused but the police refused to take action against him and registered a case against the victim’s family instead.

The accused had also been cleared of his charges by a kangaroo court (Panchayat), according to the girl’s family.

The Station House Officer (SHO) Tufail Shah of the police station was suspended following the suicide of the girl.

The accused rapist was also reported to have been arrested.
