Oil reserve discovered in Jhelum

A major oil reserve has been discovered at village Dhemak in District Jhelum in Punjab.

According to Mari Petroleum Company Limited, the oil has been discovered in Ghauri X-1 which is located at village Dhemak in District Jhelum.

The company claims the newly discovered well is amongst the top ranking oil-producing wells in the country with estimated oil reserves of 22 million barrels.

The company in a statement said the 3800 meter deep Ghauri well is a landmark achievement as it is the first hydrocarbon discovery in the eastern part of Potohar plateau.

  1. Really happy for this for my country. I am native of Kot Dhamiak and I will add one thing. It must be discovered 15 years back.
    15 years ago OGDCL put a rig here and left the project incomplete due to internal conflict among their management. They wasted sources here.
