At least 21 dead in various traffic accidents across Pakistan

LAHORE-

At least 21 people lost their lives while dozen others were injured in different traffic accidents in parts of the country on Saturday.

In Sukkur, a speeding passenger van collided head-on with a truck, killing at least eight passengers and injuring several others.

Angry demonstrators staged a protest and also attempted to set fir to the truck.

Rangers personnel and police arrived at the scene and controlled the protesters by resorting to aerial firing.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a Skardu-bound passenger bus, travelling from Rawalpindi, plunged into a ravine near Mansehra. At least five people were killed and 30 others were injured

A child and two army soldiers were also among the victims.

According to witnesses, the accidents occurred due to over-speeding by the bus driver.

In Chakwal, a car-truck collision killed at least four people.

Rescue sources added that the victims were of the same family.

Meanwhile in Tilla Kang, fire erupted in a passenger van due to gas leakage.

Four people were burnt to death in the tragedy.
