  • JUI-F senator praises Abid Sher Ali for taking ‘bold steps’

Awami National Party (ANP) senators on Friday expressed deep concerns over poor law and order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and urged the federal government to assist the provincial government in bringing peace and stability there.

Speaking on points of order, they said that the federal government should assist the KP government. Awami National Party (ANP) Senator Haji Adeel said that cases of kidnapping for ransom were increasing and people, particularly the traders, were forced to shift to other parts of the country.

He alleged that no steps were taken against such criminals who were involved in kidnappings for ransom and extortion. He said that the FC force was also short of weapons and other security gadgets. He stressed the federal government to provide modern weapons and equipment to the FC.

ANP Senator Zahid Khan said that the KP government had failed to maintain law and order in the province. He said that some parts of the provincial capital have become ‘no-go areas’.

He said that people have started sifting to other areas of the country due to rising incidents of kidnappings for ransom and extortion.

He urged the federal interior minister to visit Peshawar to address the issue. Regarding power load shedding, he said that 12-hour load shedding was being carried out.

JUI-F Senator Ghulam Ali said that the provincial government was paralysed and no steps were taken during the last one year to address the peoples’ problems.

He said that the whole budget lapsed but not a single job was given to any person during last one year in KP.

He alleged that the KP government was being controlled from Bani Gala (Islamabad).

He praised State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali for taking “bold steps”. However, he said that inflated electricity bills were being sent to the consumers.

He said that KP suffered a lot in war against terror and suggested that past arrears of the consumers should be waived off.

Later, the House was adjourned to meet again on Monday at 5pm.
