Fuel crisis looming as city stays disturbed

Fuel crisis is looming large not only in Karachi but also in the whole country following two days of supply disruptions.

A two-day lockdown of the city after the arrest of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain in London has severely disrupted fuel supply operations of the oil marketing companies not only for Karachi but for rest of the country. A senior official of the Oil Tankers Association said that most of the fuel stations in city have been shut due to security concerns, adding some 3,000 tankers daily supply petrol and diesel to city’s fuel stations. In addition, some 5,000 trucks carry fuel for upcountry cities.

But supply operations have been seriously affected on security concerns and a fuel crisis is looming large in the country if supplies are not restored.
