41% Pakistanis have confidence in the press

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by GallupPakistan, 41 percent Pakistanis say they have confidence in the press while 56 percent say the opposite.

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women, from across the four provinces was asked, “Could you tell me how much confidence you have in the Press?” Responding to this, 8 percent said they had a great deal of confidence in the press, 33 percent said quite a lot of confidence, 39 percent replied not very much and 17 percent said none at all while 3 percent did not respond.

A similar survey was conducted in China where 12 percent said they had a great deal of confidence in the press, 48 percent said quite a lot of confidence and 24 percent said not very much. Around 2 percent said none at all and 14 percent did not respond.

When the same question was asked in Philippines, 19 percent said they had a great deal of confidence in the press, 48 percent said quite a lot of confidence, 28 percent replied not very much and 5 percent said none at all.

In the United States, 2 percent set a great deal of confidence in the institution, 21 percent said quite a lot and 59 percent said not very much. 17 percent of the respondents said none at all and 1 percent did not respond.
