An 18-year-old young woman miraculously survived after being shot and thrown into a canal for marrying according to her choice.
Saba, a resident of Gujranwala told reporters that she had tied the knot with her relative, Qaiser, five days ago. She said that her family members, including her father, Maqsood Ahmed, and brother, Faisal, were unhappy over the marriage.
She said she was critically injured after her family shot her on the face and hands. Later, they put her in a sack and threw her into a canal but she miraculously survived.
Rescue officials and Saddar police shifted the injured to district hospital in critical condition.
Police have registered a case against the woman’s father, brother, uncle Ashfaq Ahmed and aunt Sajida Bibi and started investigation.
