The lawyer fraternity on Wednesday lauded the allocations for the judiciary for the fiscal year 2014-15 terming it an attempt to further strengthen judicial system in the country.
The federal government has allocated a handsome amount of Rs 2352.209 million for different development schemes of Law, Justice and Human Rights Division in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the coming fiscal year.
The lawyers termed it a good omen for the judicial system which would help intensifying bench and bar that would ultimately result in quick dispensation of justice.
Lawyer Khawaja Naumanul Haq while appreciating the budget allocations for the judicial system said that if the allotted amount is spent honestly on the schemes that would help improving the situation.
The amount of Rs 1061.959 million for the ongoing schemes and Rs 1290.250 million for new development schemes is an encouraging amount that can increase lawyers’ fraternity confidence on the government.
The government has also earmarked an amount of Rs 722.325 million for the construction of Islamabad High Court (IHC) and Rs 272 million for the residences of the judges, registrar, officers and officials, Rs 108.948 million for the construction of Sessions Court divisions and Rs 65.340 million for acquisition of land for extension of IHC.
“The amount is enough, but there is need to further allocate amount for the protection and safety of courts throughout the country,” said Advocate Muhammad Naveed.
To a question about the allocations for the lower judiciary, he said that the government knows very well about the pendent cases in the lower courts and for that purpose it should have allocated separate amount.
