IG told to tighten security

Fearing terrorist attacks and possible reaction to arrest of MQM chief Altaf Hussain, the interior ministry secretary has asked the Sindh inspector general and other law enforcers to heighten security.

In a letter written to the Sindh inspector general and other provincial authorities concerned, the secretary has cautioned provincial government of unrest, violence in the province.

Some groups of banned outfits have planned to carry out bombings in the province, the letter said.

The secretary has also directed provincial authorities to devise a comprehensive strategy and contingency plan to foil nefarious designs of insurgents and terrorists.

The Sindh government has also been asked to increase security measures for public buildings, sensitive installations and oil fields in suburban areas.
