Rs 43.4b allocated for water sector projects

The government has allocated Rs 43,427.180 million for the water sector in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the year 2014-15 for various ongoing and new projects.

According to the budgetary documents released on Tuesday, the government has specified Rs 1 billion for flood dispersal structure (Bolan), Rs 1.2 billion for construction of 100 delay action dam in Balochistan, Rs 1 billion for Daewat Dam and Rs 3 billion for Extension of Right Bank Outfall Drain from Sehwan to Sea (RBOD-II) in the PSDP for 2014-15.

Similarly, Rs 2.2 billion has been earmarked for Gomal Zam Dam, Rs 10 billion for Kachi Canal Project, Rs 20 billion for Kurram Tangi dam, Rs 1.75 billion for lining of distributaries and minors in Sindh and Rs 2.25 billion for lining and irrigation channel.

Rs 2.6 billion has been allocated for Naulong Storage Dam, Rs 1.6 billion for Nai Gaj Dam, Rs 1 billion for normal flood programme and Rs 2 billion for reconstruction of Shadi Kour Dam.
