Rs 200b earmarked for power sector

The government has earmarked Rs 200,580.900 million for power sector in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the year 2014-15 for ongoing and new projects.

According to the budgetary document released on Tuesday, of the total allocation, Rs 15,000 million has been allocated for land acquisition of Diamer Basha dam, Rs 10,000 million for construction of Diamer Basha dam, Rs 4,423 million for Dasu Hydropower Project (stage-1), Rs 6,850 million for Gola Gol Hydropower Project, Rs 3,286 million for Keyal Khawar Hydro Power Project, Rs 30,438 million for Neelum Jhelum Hydro Power Project, Rs 8,926 million for Tarbela for the Extension Project and Rs 1,260 Refurbishment and upgrading of generation units of Mangla Power Station.

A sum of Rs 2,100 million has been specified for 425MW Nandipur Power Project, Rs 2,000 million for 525MW Combined Cycle Thermal Power Plant at Chichoki Malian, Rs 8,000 million for 747MW CCPP Guddu Power Plant, Rs 9300 million for Installation of New Coal Fired Power Plants Jamshoro and Rs 1,000 million for conversion of furnace oil and gas fired boilers to coal.

Similarly, the government earmarked Rs 1,600 million for 220KV Grid Station Dera Ismail Khan, Rs 1,250 million for 220KV Grid Station on Ghazi Road Lahore, Rs 1,057 million for 220/132KV Dera Murad Jamali, Rs 3,000 million for 500KV 3rd circuit Jamshoro-Moro-Rashim Yar Khan Transmission line, Rs 2,920 million for addition of 500/200 &220/132 KV Transmission in NTDC System, Rs 1,500 million for Construction of 500KV for dispersal of power from 747MW power plant at Guddu, Rs 5,047 million for evacuation of power from wind power projects Jhimpir and Gharo Wind Cluster, Rs 6000 million for transmission for dispersal power from Neelum Jhelum project, Rs 1,600 million for transmission interconnection for dispersal of power from UCH-II and Rs 1,918 million for Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park.

An amount of Rs 10,000 million was allocated for Power Evacuation from Gaddani to National Grid Station, Rs 4,000 million for Interconnection scheme for import of power from CASA-1000, Rs.1,500 million each for 6th Secondary Transmission and Grids (FESCO and PESCO), Rs.2,000 million for 6th Secondary Transmission and Grids (SEPCO) and Rs 1,068 million for distribution and system augmentation Programme.
