A special court trying former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf under the high treason act directed the defence counsel on Tuesday to argue their miscellaneous applications and adjourned the hearing of the case till June 4.

The three-member bench headed by Justice Faisal Arab, comprising Justice Tahira Safdar and Justice Yawar Ali, resumed hearing of the high-profile treason case.

Prosecution Team Head Muhammad Akram Sheikh handed over 838 pages of investigation, intelligence and cabinet meeting reports to the defence counsel.

These documents included details of five-witness’ statements, which were missing in the initial report, and were submitted on the request of Musharraf’s lawyers.

Justice Arab said that the above-mentioned reports should have been given at least five days prior to the hearing.

Prosecutor Sheikh responded that it took time to get reports from the department concerned. Arguments regarding provision of the National Assembly record will be presented in the court today.

A plea was taken by Mushrraf’s attorneys that a resolution was passed in the National Assembly in favour of Musharraf’s November 3, 2007 action.

The court directed Musharraf’s counsel to argue on the applications regarding provision of the National Assembly record and names of government and army officials at that time. The defence team requested for a time of three days but the court rejected the plea and directed it to argue otherwise the defence team’s applications would be disposed.

It was stated in the Federal Investigation Report that former prime minister Shaukat Aziz’s last cabinet meeting was held on October 5, 2007 and the matter of emergency was not discussed in the cabinet meeting.

  1. It is more than enough to drag this drama any further. Now nawaz Sharif should be prosecuted for "Attempting to high jack PIA aircraft carrying Serving Army Chief". Nawaz should be prosecuted for "Attempting to cause revolt in Pakistan Army by promoting another Army Chief in the presence of one already Serving Army Chief, General Musharraf". General Zia-ud-Din Butt should be prosecuted for conspiring against Serving Army Chief General Musharraf and going to GHQ on a motocycle to put on the ranks all against Pakistan Army Act and Rules. Ex- PCO CJ Iftekhar should be prosecuted for instigating general public through Newspapers to make false and fabricated cases against Gen. Musharraf.

  2. I am also a Pakistani living in USA, would like to say enough is enough, Pervez Musharraf is a hero of our respective Army. Please do not let down Army character in the world. And this is not new there were three more COOPS in the country, why only Musharraf is target because he is targeted by Nawaz Sharif. Nawaz Sharif is a corrupt person and looted Pakistani wealth. Nawaz suppose to try not Musharraf.

All of the fabricated case should drop and let national hero to meet his mother.

  3. let the court do his work and please don't argu on this matter beyond the facts this is first time happening in Pakistan that a high profile or ex general is facing the law and his punishment will discourage all the politicians who want to rule Pakistan on the shoulders of army and all those who thinks that everybody in Pakistan is not doing well except army will also be discouraged. let the justice complete in this way, Pakistan will develop rapidly in civilized manner like other nations. now time has changed only in couple of countries of Africa or in Laos army is ruling and every educated Person in the world which reads or watch current affairs everyday knows that these countries are in miserable plight and seeking help. so army rule is not a developing tool this rule can take you towards back , so please for god sake let the justice complete and encourage the nation to resist every thing which not happen according to law. otherwise you will remain back in the race developing nations.
