Try Imran Khan for high treason: Abid

State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali has come up with a demand to initiate proceedings against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan and his supporters under Article 6 of the constitution.

The minister was ranting about the Kaptaan for holding massive protest rallies against the government.

Article 6 pertains to high treason, which reads, “Any person who abrogates or subverts or suspends or holds in abeyance, or attempts or conspires to abrogate or subvert or suspend or hold in abeyance, the Constitution by use of force or show of force or by any other unconstitutional means shall be guilty of high treason.”

It also reads, “Any person aiding or abetting [or collaborating] the acts mentioned in above clause shall likewise be guilty of high treason.”

Talking to media in Faisalabad, the minister said the government would not allow ‘foreigners’ to disrupt peace in the country. He claimed his party would run over all forces obstructing the national agenda. Attempts are being made to stir clash between state institutions, said the minister.

He revealed that the country was witnessing ‘record’ investment.
