NANDIPUR-
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday formally inaugurated the 95 MW unit of 425 MW Nandipur Power Project in Gujranwala, a private news channel reported.
Accompanied by Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif, Water and Power Minister Khawaja Asif and various top officials, the PM praised the Pakistani and Chinese experts working on the project.
The Nandipur Power Project, comprising of four units, will be providing 425 megawatts of electricity produced by furnace oil and 525 megawatts of electricity by using gas resources.
It is expected to be completed by the end of 2014.
The second 95.4 MW unit will be completed soon and is expected to generate power by July.
PM Sharif said that the project remained abandoned for three years but now the power sector is being worked upon diligently. He added that the government will soon start to work on Dasy Hydropower Project.
Talking about the ongoing political scenario, the PM pleaded political parties to not to derail democracy. He said that the parties should work on the mandate given to them by the public instead of questioning the elections and holding protests.
