- Court orders advocate general to consult CM, Rangers DG and IG
The Sindh High Court (SHC) has expressed concern over ongoing target killing in Karachi and ordered the Sindh government to bring to light facts in this regard.
A 2-member bench of SHC led by Chief Justice Maqbool Baqir took up for hearing the cases of violence against MQM worker Fahd Aziz and others and killings here Friday.
The court directed the Sindh advocate general to consult with the Sindh chief minister, Rangers DG and inspector general for this purpose and evolve a system to improve law and order.
The court said the prevailing situation was highly alarming and has given rise to uncertainty with reference to law and order and security environment. Therefore it is essential that immediate steps be taken so that truth about behind the scene causes of killings could come to fore.
The court directed police to provide to Nusrat Zaidi who had returned from the custody of law enforcers.
Syed Qamar Abbas alleged in his constitutional petition that his brother Yawar Abbas Rizvi was arrested by Rangers from PIB Colony on November 6, 2013 and his body was found on December 14 from Noori Abad.
The court sought report from MLOJinnahHospital until June 11 about alleged torture against deceased MQM worker Suleman.
MQM MNA Asif Hussain had filed an application wherein he had said that MQM worker and employee of civil hospital was taken into custody by law enforcers on February 3 and later his family members came to know through media that his body was found near Malir stream. A three-member committee was formed under DIG Karachi South Abdul Khaliq Sheikh to probe Suleman’s killing but it denied about presence of any torture marks on the body of the victim. Later, Dr Afzal, MLOJinnahHospital, said in the autopsy report that the lower part of the body was bleeding.
The court summoned Dr Afzal in this regard.
