Karzai discuses cross-border shelling with Sharif

In a telephonic conversation with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday, Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai raised serious concerns over Pakistan’s alleged cross-border shelling on eastern Kunar province.

During the conversation, Karzai told premier Sharif, “Terrorists are crossing the Durand Line into Afghanistan for years, but the Afghan forces have never fired on civilians across the Durand Line.”

According to Karzai’s office, the Afghan president said that Pakistan continuously fired artillery on the eastern parts of Afghanistan.

According to the statement, Prime Minister Sharif replied to Karzai by telling him that terrorists came from Afghanistan to Pakistan and conducted terrorist activities. However, Sharif promised to discuss cross-border shelling with concerned institutions within his government.
