LAHORE-
32 fishermen and five civilian Pakistani prisoners jailed in India were handed over to Pakistani authorities at Wagha joint border on Friday, a private news channel reported.
The prisoners’ release follows Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s visit to India for Indian PM Narendra Modi’s swearing in ceremony and bilateral talks between the two premiers in New Delhi.
Previously, 150 prisoners were released by Pakistan. The prisoners’ release came as a goodwill gesture a day ahead of PM Sharif s visit to India.
Out of the 150, 59 fishermen were released from Malir Jail in Karachi and 92 others were released from Hyderabad’s Nara Jail.
