Substandard ice cream sale posing serious health risk for capital residents as according to reports, some factories are even packing their substandard ice-creams in wrappers of famous brands to make money by deceiving people
The substandard ice-cream sale is posing health hazards among the innocent kids in twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi but the concerned authorities have turned a blind eye towards the situation.
Several factories in twin cities are involved in making ice-cream and ice candies by using contaminated water. According to some reports, some factories are even packing their substandard ice-creams in wrappers of famous ice-cream brands to make money by deceiving people.
The capital residents said that the concerned authorities are not taking any action against the manufacturers of the substandard ice-creams. They said people especially children are falling prey to abdominal diseases and throat infection after eating the products.
The residents of many other areas including sectors F-6, G-7, G-9, G-11, of the federal capital and other areas of Rawalpindi said that the vendors sell the substandard ice-cream in their streets.
The children eat the ice-cream and fall ill. The residents demanded the concerned authorities to take action against the manufacturers of the substandard ice-cream.
Children may suffer from deadly diseases like cancer and kidney infection if they take harmful chemical and colour mixed ice creams regularly,” said Dr Aftab A Malik in Polyclinic.
These factories are producing ice creams in most unhygienic way with low quality ingredients due to lack of supervision by the authorities concerned.
Most factory owners are ignorant of the food act as they use harmful ingredients, including impure water, arrowroot, toxic dye, flavour, soda, date expired powder milk and saccharin, in ice creams, he added.
