RCCI wants separate cluster for each industry at QAIE

The Standing Committee of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) on Steel and Allied Material has underlined the need for setting up separate cluster for each industry at the Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate (QAIE) to promote production activities in the region.

Chairing a meeting of the committee Malik Afzal requested the RCCI to establish a Steel city at the Industrial estate as this industry needed more space as compared to other sectors.

Steel industry, he said, was facing great hardships in the city due to lack of required space and infrastructure.

He expressed the hope that the steel sector would get a boom after setting up a special cluster for it in the industrial estate.

RCCI Senior Vice President Malik Shahid Saleem said a separate space would be allocated for steel sector in the industrial estate and the chamber would make all-out efforts of this important area of the national economy.

Expressing the firm determination to resolve problems being faced by the steel industry, he said the matter would be effectively taken up at all forums.

He said the chamber was also aware of difficulties confronted by the Rawalpindi’s steel industry regarding withholding tax, assuring to extend all possible cooperation to resolve the issue amicably.
