There is an increasingly recognition all over the world that businesses can play very productive role in peace building mainly in conflict affected countries like Pakistan
This was stated by Dr. Markus Mayer, Programme Manager-South and Southeast Asia, International Alert (UK) while speaking at the gathering of key officials of a large number of national and multinational companies at a local hotel in Karachi on 24 May 2014.
Private sector in Pakistan has huge potential of peace building in Pakistan. It only needs to align its operation with its corporate social responsibilities
He highlighted that although very little research is available in this sector to support business communities, Alert has initiated this task to provide case studies to business communities to pilot such actions. Engaging business as important “actor” in peace building process will bring sustainable changes in the contexts.
