Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Central Information Secretary Shireen Mazari has criticised use of two helicopters by Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Mehtab Abbasi for political campaigning in his constituency of Abbotabad/Nathiagali.

The helicopters were used for almost 25 hours this month, at an operating cost of $4,500 to $10,000 which will be borne by the KP government. These funds, which should have been focused on FATA, were instead used for the bye election in PK 45. It is unethical for a governor to interfere in electioneering in his province as it is considered tantamount to rigging.

Mazari demanded that the governor should desist from any activity that could be construed as political campaigning for an election and conduct himself within the proper confines of his ceremonial office.

She said that KP governor’s place for political supervision is FATA and he should not interfere in the politics of KP.
