Indian prisoners cross Wagah border

Pakistan on Monday handed over 151 Indian nationals to their government at the Wagah border as a goodwill gesture by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The prisoners, including 150 fishermen, were released from District

Prison Malir, Karachi, and Nara Prison, Hyderabad. They were brought to the Wagah border by buses. The fishermen had been detained for violating Pakistan’s territorial waters.

Talking to reporters at the border, the released prisoners lauded the decision of the prime minister and said that Pakistan and India’s relationship should be normalised for progress and prosperity of the people of both countries.

They lauded the Pakistan government for providing facilities to them in jail and appealed to the Indian government to release Pakistani fishermen.
