Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader Raza Rabbani has said his party has proposed 13 amendments in the much-criticised the Pakistan Protection Ordinance (PPO).

Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Senator Rabbani said under the proposed amendments, a judicial commission would be set up to probe any incident. The detainees will be produced before courts within 24 hours.

The PPP leader said human rights had been given due consideration in the new draft and forces’ power to open firing has also been curtailed. He made it clear that the opposition party would not accept the PPO in its current state.
