Under international pressure, the government has bowed to defer the decision to bring the local and international NGOs under the tax net.
Sources in the FBR, however, said a new article will be added to the Finance Bill for the next financial year under which NGOs would be required to file returns detailing income and expenditure as well as sources of income.
The sources said that European and other western countries had been pressing Pakistan not to tax the NGOs as they were carrying out activities for the social welfare of the neglected people.
